Schotis Text is a workhorse typeface designed for perfect reading on running texts. Its design is based in Scotch Roman 19th-century style but designed from scratch, with a more contemporary and not nostalgic look. It has seven weights plus matching italics, with 1100 glyphs per font, with a very extended character set for Latin based languages as well as Vietnamese, and shows all its potential with OpenType-savvy applications. Every font includes small caps, ligatures, old-style, lining, proportional and tabular figures, superscript, subscript, numerators, denominators, and fractions. The Scotch Romans were one of the most used letters during the 19th and early 20th century, but they don’t have their own place in the main typographical classifications. They appeared at the beginning of the 19th century with Pica No. 2 in the catalog of William Miller (1813) and assumed the British route towards high contrast and vertical axis modern Romans. In fact, they were called just Modern. In opposition to the continental route of Fournier, Didot, and Bodoni, the English way opted for a wider, more legible letter also resistant to bad printing conditions. The name Schotis comes from the misspelling of Scottish that gave the name to a popular dance in Madrid in the 19th-century. It first was called Schotis and today is knows as Chotis.

Meet Allrounder Grotesk, a decent and modest font and the first member of the multipurpose Allrounder superfamily. The multitalented typeface was developed from 2018 to 2020 by Moritz Kleinsorge. It lays the foundation for Kleinsorge’s Allrounder superfamily, a series of typefaces sharing the same color and horizontal metrics (cap height, small cap height and x-height). The aim of this series is to create a typesetting system whose components match each other perfectly. While the construction principles of these two font families is completely independent of each other, they still harmonize due to sharing some key characteristics, such as metrics and color. @andinistas presents Bleak , an experimental font designed by #carlosfabiancg. Bleak is based on the imaginative use of contrast applied in the empty space and on the dramatic distributions of the wide and compressed horizontal of more than 400 textured symmetric capitals inspired by compositions of the Lissitzky, Theo van Doesburg, among others. In the Europe of the 20s, scarce resources prevailed, which gave these great artists the firm determination and dedication to create a visual vocabulary, characteristic of the composition with movable types of wood and metal. As they did not readily dispose of the forms of the letters they required, they did not hesitate to construct them with metal rulers, ornaments and other improvised pieces and remains and obtained in the forgotten corners of the typographic composition workshop.

This typeface is inspired by the powerful political and social posters by Paul Peter Piech, a tireless artist and printer. Questioned about his endless energy and focus on work, he said "I don't want to sit around and be silent". Pieches is a linocut-looking font heavily loaded with interlocks, including vertical pairs of letters. There are alternates also, and not quite a few: four glyphs for each letter so countless expressive possibilities are open. Graphical elements are also included, for added wilderness. This is a loud-speaking font for those who don't want to be silent. Come on, let’s shout!

Then I looked it up on Wikipedia and what do you know, it is of latin descent. »Ars Gratia Artis« which means »art for arts sake« or in French »l’art pour l’art«, a perfect font name. If I would cut off the »s« as well it would mean disambiguation and that in turn is, what I just did here. Enough disambiguation! »Artis« is a modern classical beauty with extreme contrast between up- and downstrokes that make it unique with a touch of art deco and showing Renaissance roots. But – »Artis« is a twin-font that has an elegantly decorated twin sister »Artis-Swing«. Between the 2 fonts you have endless possibilities for combination. I love these twins! Blacker Pro is the revised and extended version of the original wedge serif type family designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini and Andrea Tartarelli in 2017. Blacker was developed as a take on the style that Jeremiah Shoaf has defined as the "evil serif" genre: typefaces with high contrast, oldstyle or modern serif proportions and sharp, blade-like triangular serifs. Due to the high contrast in the design - slightly reminescent of didone typefaces - Blacker has been developed in two optical subfamilies.
